Project Life

Poor neglected blog.

Today is a quick post about how I'm organizing my Project Life goodies and my title pages.

For storage I wanted something I could leave out in the open, if I don't see it I won't use it.  It had to have plenty of room for my growing assortment of PL goodies (what an addiction!!).  I also wanted it to have a cover and be easily moveable off my desk.  When I get involved in another project (often), like making 17 handmade Valentine's for my Girl Scout troop...well I need to clear the desk.

I picked out Art Bin's double deep storage box with a clear plastic tray that fits in the bottom (brand name Darice).  So far it's working beautifully.

I keep my date stamp, adhesive, favorite pen and tapes in the first section.  Next my OA journal cards and wild cards.  Last two sections contain the grid journaling cards from the core kit and then a a few of each of the journaling cards from the kit. 

Next up in the long section, a few more tools and longer sheets of rub-ons, stickers, etc.  I LOVE the OA Label and Word Stickers for PL.   Behind the long section I store the 4x6 core kit cards and stickers.  Next to them is a section of things I've stamped for PL.

Last row I store the extra journal cards from the core kit, my smash pads, and my embellishments I'm keeping for PL.  Tucked along the side are Smash stickies.

So there you have it.  Pretty simple but plenty of room for more goodies.

The Season | Nov 24 to Dec 3

I have not fallen off the face of the earth!  And I've even managed to mostly keep up with my Journal Your Christmas.  But working on my journal, taking and editing photos and doing a blog entry...HA!   I am in awe of all of you who manage to do so with regularity.  

So playing a little catch up:

November 24th looks like this, kept things simple.  Used my Instax camera (LOVE) for a quick snap at Grandma's house.

November 25th, Polar Express.  Again used the Instax camera. Tucked our tickets into the page protector of the following page.  I will add a few favorite photos from the polar express once they are printed. 

For the 30th of November I included my 30 days of Gratitude written out and tucked in an envelope.  

December 1 - I used a printable from Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class, just a reminder of what this season means to me. 

Because my album is very journal intensive I love the idea (borrowed from Ali Edwards) of using Hambly transparencies for a bit of visual interest. 

Day 2 we journaled the weather. 

Day 3 - Christmas Cards.  One of my favorite layouts so far.  

The page flips open to reveal journaling about our cards (how many we send out, cost of stamp, etc) along with a photo collage of what I go through to get a photo of my kids. 

For giggles, I'm including a larger size of the collage.  I'm fairly certain one or all of us will end up in therapy some day over our annual Christmas Card photo sessions. :)

But in the end miracles do happen.

The Season | Foundation Pages

Just posting a few of the pages I've created so far for my Journal Your Christmas project.

The first page, used Ali Edwards idea of the pocket page.  Love!!

One of the reasons my album will include Thanksgiving is because of the Polar Express.  This will be our second year and it's just so much fun, a great way to kick off the holiday season.  These papers will be perfect to journal this event with a pocket for our tickets.

This gusseted pocket will go on the inside back cover of my album to hold holiday cards we receive.

One of my favorite "pages."  Idea came from Kathy Orta.  It's a paper bag pocket with a mini album tucked inside.  The pages of the album form additional pockets for photos or journaling.  Plus a full size tag tucks inside the open side of the pocket page.  

A few more of my foundation pages.  Some I have specific ideas in mind, other's will be used for JYC prompts.

The Season

I love the ideas of December Daily and Journal Your Christmas.  I'm jumping in with both feet and doing a combination of the two.  Running from Thanksgiving (for me that's when I really feel the Christmas spirit start) through the new year.  I'm calling it The Season.  39 days of journaling our holidays, photos and memorabilia.

I'm using a WRMK 5.5x8.5 album, lots of Simple Stories patterned papers, a bit of OA and Basic Grey. Buttons, Maya Road goodies and I pulled my stash of star embellishments.

Numbers are ready to go.  Well mostly, still have a few to figure out.

Welcome to my craft blog.  I hope this becomes a place to share project ideas, layouts and inspiration.

No post is complete without a little project.  On the eve of the last day of school for my oldest, I found myself without an end of the year thank you for her teacher.  Amazon to the rescue!  It seemed a bit gauche to stuff a printed gift card in a plain old card.  So I whipped up a little book for her.

I used kraft as a base for the card and embellished with patterned paper from October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker line.  First spread included a school photo of my daughter along with a poem about teachers.  The next spread (bottom photo right) I used a Hall Pass wild card, again from OA.  Opposite page is a note of thanks I wrote to her teacher.  Last spread includes the gift certificate inside the envelope and a little letter written by my daughter.
